Nico Carlevaris – Engineer
Nico’s connection to Stone Automation’s founder Salve Caruso starts way back when Salve bought his first Donatoni for the family’s stonemasonry business. The installation and commissioning of their first Jet625 was undertaken by Nico and he went on to install two more Jet625s with them in the following years.
Four years ago, Nico set up his own engineering firm specialising in engineering and maintenance of glass and stone processing machinery, and in particular in the installation and servicing of Donatoni machines in the UK & Ireland. It is in this capacity that he works for Stone Automation.
Nico Carlevaris has an in-depth knowledge of Donatoni from his 8 years working on their machines and software for the former UK distributor and for himself. And as an Italian native, we benefit from the easy discourse between Nico and the Donatoni service department. He finds the Donatoni service department easy to reach and supportive, something he says is not common in this industry.
A typical day for Nico sees him liaising with customers on the finer detail of their upcoming Donatoni delivery and overseeing the installation of new machines across the UK & Ireland. He also assists with training operatives on new machines, annual maintenance visits and resolving minor issues, because in his own words “There are never major problems with a Donatoni”.
